Shawn Melted My Heart....

On last Sunday, Shawn pulled my hand and keep calling "Mummy! Mummy!", then I answered him "Yes!! Darling..". Then he say "Mummy! ai ya u!". My heart melted and I returned by saying "Darling.. I love you too!" and with a big muak muak.

That's sweet right!! I understand what he says coz me and the 2 ko-ko has been teaching him to say "I Love you" since few weeks ago.

He's been trying to developed his speech lately and able to speak many words with very clear pronunciation. So proud of him. ;)

Shawn - 21 Months Old

Shawn is going to celebrate his 2 year old birthday very soon. He grown up a lot and becomes more active and learning skills very fast.

Managed to catch him spoon feed himself (see photo below). One good thing is that he will clean up his table every time when he put one spoonful into his mouth. He saw me doing that and that's why he will follow exactly for every spoonful he puts in and the excessive food drops out from his mouth.

He is also able to sing songs with action and his favorite songs are "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Stars" and a children Christian song (name unknown) with his both hands put together and face up every time the word "Bible" sings out.

But also he is very cranky as well. Like to throw his tantrums to his brothers and especially on me. He also very sticky to me whenever sees me; won't allow me to do my stuff privately.
Anyway, he is a cute and also a loveable boy. I still like to pinch his little cheek and sure he will purposely act the painful emotion out from his face. Oh ya with sounds as well like "aissshhhh"; he is very good at it.

Speech wise; he can say "I love u", "Thank you" and etc with unclear pronunciations. But basically you know what he's trying to say. And definitely knows how to complaint about his brothers, what he saw from TV and etc... Blah, blah, blah all the way until I responce to his complaint. Cute right ;)

Been Very Very Busy!!

Due to Father In Law health condition, I have neglected this blog for quite some times. No choice loh...

Shawn has been shouting a lot lately. Who ever don't give him what he wants, sure will shout as loud as possible. Umm, it's time to teach him some lesson. He understands what is No, No but still he will continue his shouting.

Oh, one more... Cry and cry and cry out loud to achieve what he wants too.. sign....Boys...

Sorry to say that I don't believe in talking to a 20 months old boy and expect him to understand it is rude to shout and cry for something he wants. So, have to show him some little punishment like leave him alone to cry for mummy will not give hug hug if he throw his tantrum like that. Oh ya, he smart; he will turn to his elder brother Samuel for love and hugs. Samuel will look at me and I will give him some signal whether can or can not.

Ya, parenthood not easy especially with BOYS!!

Got Frustrated!!

Last week, Samuel had his second semester exam in school. The result he got back was poor and all below 80 marks. I have been sending him for tuition and still shows no improvement. As a mother who cares for his future really feel frustrated.

My Father In Law admitted to hospital since 10th of April. Has been one month plus that the whole family in and out the hospital daily and dine outside. I guess because of that, we have neglected Samuel's revision and preparation for his 2nd term exam. I also felt that he is not really prepare enough for this exam. All of us was too tired to do other things. But some how Samuel is really not doing well and he actually messed up his maths calculation.

I have run out of idea how to help Samuel to handle his school work. I know both of us are under pressured.. :( Should I just let him be and not to push him at all?? I can tell my pressure to him consider mild compare with others but he seems to be taking for granted. What should I need to do next???

Shawn's Speech.

Shawn had a high fever last week and that helping me to build a panda patch at the bottom of my eyes. For 3 nights he has been crying and "nyek" almost from 2am till 5am.

When after his fever almost gone, amazingly he starts to speak some words like start calling everyone at home with the most accurate pronunciations. Firstly besides he can call "ma-ma"(grandma), "yea-yea" (grandpa) and "Mum-my"; he starts to call his two brothers "Ko-Ko" and also his father "Dad-dy". Not bad ya, 2 different sound in age 1 and half. He even calls me "Ah-Mee" when he's searching for me around the house or when he wakes up from his nap.

Whenever you instruct him to do he knows exactly what should be done correctly. He still giving his best trick to melt his mummy's heart - the sweet, sweet smile.... I do really, really love his smile. Oh ya, every night he will serve towel to his grandpa and that his grandpa's heart sure melt many, many times liao... ;)

I Am Back !!

It's has been a long rest for me and really do not have the urged to write anything after the incident. I took a long, long rest not just physically but also mentally. Overcoming depression is not an easy issue.

Now, I am ok and feel excited again to start to write about my boys, at least I have 3 princes to take care and feel blessed to have them around and cheer up my life.

Shawn progress so well, he started to call me "mummy" whenever he sees me. When I sit on the floor, he will quickly come to me. Before he could sit on my lap, he will call me first "Mummy, Mummy" and give me a wet, wet kiss on my cheek. He's now 18 mth old and only recently extra 4-6 tooth came out at the back of his gum. He got extremely good appetite and eats what ever we eat daily. He consumes 8ozs of milk every 3-4 hourly and 1 solid food during dinner. In between meal time, he takes biscuits and fruits. Every time when we open the fridge, out from no where he will squeeze himself in and quickly grasps a grape and quickly puts it into his mouth. I really enjoy seeing him doing that. Of course, he also turning more active and trying so hard to get our attention. He baby talks a lot with his own rhythm, we really don't understand what he is trying to say but surprisingly he understands what we instruct him to do and follow exactly. The only words we understand what he is saying is only "mum-mum", "bao-bao" and "mummy"... ; not even like to say "nen-nen" or "ko-ko". He will just point to the things that he wants and start to mumbles in his baby language.

Samson already turns 5 in Feb and will share his photo soon. He spell all his number in words from 1 - 12 and able to read his level 1 Peter and Jane story book. I bought him a sticker as a reward and he chose his favorite cartoon character, "Rat-A-Tooi". It cost abt RM6 per piece and he actually gave away some to his friends, ko-ko and jie-jie in church. I am trying to push him the BM suku-kata before he actually left far behind like his big brother. He is now in K1 and I really feel that my responsibilities to do revision daily with 2 boys are no longer an easy task for me.

Samuel is turning 8 this April and he's getting more mature than before. Sometime still fighting with Samson but he is now more willing to let go the toy if they fighting for the same toy. Well, taking care of boys is not easy task and really need a lot of patients. That's reminded me that there's one Sunday, I met a new friend and when I told her that I have 3 boys, she said "You must be very patient...." I looked at her and shake my head, trying to tell her that it's not true. I used to be a patient type of person but after having 3 boys in my life, I think me no longer a patient type. Anyway, back to Samuel; he is in std 2 now and every morning have to wake up at 5:30am and catch his bus at 5:50am. I have to wake up that early just to wake him up. After he goes off with the bus, I will take abt 10 min to do some light exercise then go back to bed till 7am and prepare myself to send Samson to kindy and myself to work. Transport has been arranged to send Samson back from school at 12pm and MIL will be at home to take care all the boys.

Samuel also had his evaluation exam before the school holiday started on 8 mar; he don't get a good score in his BM and Chinese subject but he shows improvement in his Math. He got 2 subjects with 90 over marks and it's my promise that he will get his little present if he scores 90 over marks for each subject. So during school holiday, I brought him to theater to watch "Horton" and planning to get a watch for him as he request to have one before. Not a expensive one, just less than RM50 is my budget. Oh ya, forgot to mention; he had his first spectacles during the CNY. The optician checked his eye and confirms that he had 100 & 150 degree 散光 on his both eyes. I don't how to call that in English. Hehe....

Well, don't you feel happy and so content to have 3 kids? I am so blessed and I feel so much content having them around.

Something About Miscarriage

Below is the research I found from babycenter.com about miscarriage which I think most of us as a women should know...

What is a miscarriage?
Miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy in the first 20 weeks. About 15 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage, and more than 80 percent of these losses happen before 12 weeks. This doesn't include situations in which you lose a fertilized egg before you get a positive pregnancy test. Studies have found that 30 to 50 percent of fertilized eggs are lost before a woman finds out she's pregnant, because they happen so early that she goes on to get her period about on time. If you lose a baby after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it's called a stillbirth.

What causes a miscarriage?
Between 50 and 70 percent of first trimester miscarriages are thought to be random events caused by chromosomal abnormalities in the fertilized egg. Most often, this means that the egg or sperm had the wrong number of chromosomes, and as a result, the fertilized egg can't develop normally. In other cases, a miscarriage is caused by problems that occur during the delicate process of early development — for example, when an egg doesn't implant properly in the uterus or an embryo has structural defects that don't allow it to continue developing. Since most healthcare practitioners won't do a full-scale workup after a single miscarriage, it's usually impossible to tell why the pregnancy was lost. And even when a detailed evaluation is performed — say after you've had two or three consecutive miscarriages — the cause still remains unknown in about half of cases. When the fertilized egg has chromosomal problems, you may end up with what's sometimes called a blighted ovum (now usually referred to in medical circles as an early pregnancy failure). In this case, the fertilized egg implants in the uterus and the placenta and gestational sac begin to develop, but the resulting embryo either stops developing very early or doesn't form at all. Because the placenta begins to secrete hormones, you'll get a positive pregnancy test and may have early pregnancy symptoms, but an ultrasound will show an empty gestational sac. In other cases, the embryo does develop for a little while but has abnormalities that make survival impossible, and development stops before the heart starts beating.
Once your baby has a heartbeat — usually visible on ultrasound at around 6 weeks — your odds of having a miscarriage drop significantly.

What kinds of things might put me at a higher risk for miscarriage?
Though any woman can miscarry, some are more likely to miscarry than others. Here are the most common risk factors:
Age: Older women are more likely to conceive babies with chromosomal abnormalities, and to miscarry them as a result. In fact, 40-year-olds are about twice as likely to miscarry as 20-year-olds.
A history of miscarriages: Women who have had two or more miscarriages in a row are more likely than other women to miscarry again.
Certain chronic diseases or disorders: Poorly controlled diabetes, certain inherited blood clotting disorders, certain autoimmune disorders (such as antiphosphilipid syndrome or lupus), and certain hormonal disorders (such as polycystic ovary syndrome).
Uterine or cervical problems: Having certain uterine abnormalities or a weak or abnormally short cervix (known as cervical insufficiency).
A history of birth defects or genetic problems: Having had a child with a birth defect, or a family history (or a partner with a family history) of genetic problems.
Certain infections: Research has shown a somewhat higher risk for miscarriage if you have listeria, mumps, rubella, measles, cytomegalovirus, parvovirus, gonorrhea, HIV, and certain other infections.
Smoking, drinking, and using drugs: Smoking a lot, drinking too much alcohol, and using drugs like cocaine and ecstasy during pregnancy can all increase your risk for miscarriage. And some studies show an association between drinking four or more cups of coffee a day and a higher risk of miscarriage.
Taking certain medications: Some medications have been linked to increased risk of miscarriage, so it's important to ask your caregiver about the safety of any medications you're taking even while you're trying to conceive. This goes for prescription and over-the-counter drugs, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and aspirin.
Exposure to environmental toxins: Environmental factors that might increase your risk include lead; arsenic; some chemicals, like formaldehyde, benzene, and ethylene oxide; and large doses of radiation or anesthetic gases.
Paternal factors: Little is known about how the father's condition may contribute to a couple's risk for miscarriage, though the risk increases with the father's age. Researchers are studying the extent to which sperm could be damaged by environmental toxins but still manage to fertilize an egg. Some studies have found a greater risk of miscarriage when the father has been exposed to mercury, lead, and some industrial chemicals and pesticides.Your risk of miscarriage also rises with each child you bear and if you get pregnant within three months after giving birth.
